In a year that has seen numerous landmark achievements for the business, Tharsus has now been shortlisted as one of the final eight companies in contention for the Mail on Sunday’s Financial Mail Made in Britain competition.
The eight shortlisted companies represent what is best about Britain’s manufacturing industry, which continues to thrive despite the ongoing challenges in the global economy.
Financial Mail’s Made in Britain campaign was launched more than a year ago to find and celebrate successful and innovative companies in the sector. Tharsus was one of the first three businesses to be featured on January 1st 2012, launched this year.
Since being featured Tharsus has opened its third 30,000 sq ft production site in Blyth and successfully ramped up production volumes on a number of contracts to design and manufacture complex electro-mechanical products for multi-national corporations secured against global competition.
With an increase in exports of more than 200% in the last six months, CEO Brian Palmer certainly thinks Tharsus deserve to win the award,
“I am proud of what we’ve achieved and I believe businesses such as Tharsus are key to Britain as we are enabling companies based here to get exciting new products to market and then export them throughout Europe and the world.”
As Southeast Northumberland has taken some knocks in recent years, particularly with the closure of the Alcan plant, Tharsus has been able to help some of those skilled people back into work.
The Made in Britain awards are sponsored by credit insurer Euler Hermes and judges include former Dragons’ Den star James Caan, Peter Morgan of Rolls-Royce and Clive Jackson, the founder of private jet-share company Victor.
However, you can vote for Tharsus in the People’s Choice award by emailing ‘Vote For Tharsus’ to email@example.com – with all voters entered into a competition to win a bottle of champagne.
