The ceremony took place at the Grand Hotel in Gosforth on Thursday evening February 28. More than 400 attended including a 30 strong team representing Tharsus Group.

The night started well early on with Universal Wolf winning the Manufacturing Award against sister company Tharsus and Formica. Managing Director Patrick Macdonald collected the trophy.

The evening builds to the biggest prize of the night, the Company of the Year award. Tharsus Group were up against Aspire Technology Services and Transmission Dynamics.

In an exciting reveal Tharsus Group were named as the winners. Brian Palmer, CEO, received the award and was interviewed by host Ingrid Hagemann. He said:

“It feels fantastic [to win this award]. We were shortlisted in the past but I do think it was right that we didn’t win earlier. The business has been developing and evolving for a number of years and it feels like we’ve got to the end of the beginning of the Tharsus journey now. The business is really accelerating and there’s a great buzz about the place.”

When asked what it meant to the employees, Brian nodded to the Tharsus Group tables and replied:

“You only have to look at the enthusiasm across that end of the room. It’s testament to the dedication, passion and belief of the team.”

There was some celebrating post event with champagne flowing and everyone enjoying their moment in the spotlight. Tharsus Group and Universal Wolf would just like to thank the organisers and congratulate all the winners and finalists. It was great to be part of such an exciting, inspiring evening.

Tharsus Group and Universal Wolf now head for the grand final at Hardwick Hall on the 16th May. They will face off against the winners of the Durham, Sunderland & South Tyneside awards and the Teesside Business awards, held on the 14th and 28th of March respectively, to be named the overall champions for 2019.
