Last week saw the finals of the 2019 North East Business Awards at Hardwick Hall near Sedgefield. We are delighted to say that Tharsus Group was named overall winner of the coveted Company of the Year title.
More than 600 members of the region’s business community attended the prestigious annual event, run by The Journal in conjunction with sister paper The Gazette and associate sponsors the North East England Chamber of Commerce.
Universal Wolf was a finalist in its own right and won the Manufacturing trophy, in the face of strong competition from Walker Filtration (Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside) and Dormor Machine and Engineering (Teesside). Proud Managing Director Patrick MacDonald collected the trophy. You can read more about their evening here.
Enjoyable as the night was the tension was mounting: the announcement of the Company of the Year award was the very last of the evening. Tharsus Group (Tharsus and Universal Wolf under the shared Group umbrella) went up against Nice Network Ltd (Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside) and Lexonik (Teesside).
Tharsus Group was named the winner, topping a brilliant evening for both teams. Brian Palmer, CEO, received the award from presenters Alfie Joey and Ingrid Hagemann. He said:
“This means a huge amount. It is all about the people – the table across there will be delighted but everyone back at base will be as well. They work incredibly hard and this is fantastic recognition.”
Everyone at Tharsus Group would like to thank all those involved, from organisers and judges to fellow attendees, for making these awards so special. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners.
