Brief

To design an architectural range of outdoor 6-sheet illuminated advertising display units that met the following criteria:

• Can withstand hurricanes and the elements
• Strong with curved glass fascias (concave and convex)
• Stainless steel construction
• Virtually stripe free
• Met local independent structural regulations

Solution

Lincoln Road, the most prestigious shopping street in Miami, required an architectural look to its range of freestanding illuminated advertising displays.

This project was a complete design through to build assignment. It had to take into account local architects' requirements, employed by Clear Channel, and meet stringent local legislation. These units had to include 10mm thick curved glazing for strength, and were housed in robust yet aesthetically pleasing stainless steel units.

Working closely with a Miami based structural engineering company, the units had to be able to withstand the harsh environment of Miami in terms of exposure to hurricanes, high temperatures and sand storms.
