Design Brief

To design a range of illuminated advertising display products that met the following criteria:-

• Slim wall mounted units with static displays no more than 50mm in depth and scrolling displays no more than 100mm
• Section 12 compliant
• IP65 rated
• High lumen output
• Virtually stripe free
• Edge to edge glazing
• EMC compliant (to LU standard)
• Energy efficient

Solution

Tharsus Vision developed 4, 6, and 12 sheet illuminated back lit wall mounted units that are 50mm in depth. Utilising our patented "Reflex" diffusion technology we were able to virtually remove the striping effect traditionally seen on back lit units and provide an even but high lumen output.

An additional benefit of Reflex was to be able to reduce the power consumption of all the products particularly the 6-Sheet, the most common type of advertising media.

Using T5 florescent lamps which give a high lumens per watt output, the units consume 28% less power than existing LU products. Employing previously gained expertise utilising modern adhesives, we fulfilled the requirement for edge to edge glazing and gave the effect of "floating glass".

Working with selected partners on fire retardant seals, LSOH cables, and employing the services of independent test houses, the units passed both IP65 and EMC requirements.

Similarly, with scrollers we developed illuminated scrolling advertising displays that mirrored the same criteria at a depth of just 100mm.
