Cisco’s looking set to seal its vote of confidence in the UK tech economy through dynamically funding ‘Internet of things’ and ‘smart city’ digital projects over the next 5 years. Cisco will be introducing the UK fund as a strategic commitment to support the next generation of the country’s digitization plans.

The multinational technology company has recently developed an innovation gateway platform – a UK wide series of initiatives and partnerships enabling tech entrepreneurs and startups to grow faster with mentoring, financial support and much more. This recent investment will look to further expand the existing innovation framework as well as inject £100Million worth of funds directly through venture capital equity investment into UK start-ups focused on the Internet of things.

John Chambers, chairman and CEO of Cisco, said: “We believe the UK is well on its way to becoming one of the top digitized countries in the world, and we’re proud to once again activate new programmes and continue our deep commitment to partnering with the UK government”.
