BNFL

Tharsus was approached by one of our customers to deliver a solution to BNFL, a nuclear power engineering company.

Client Problem

Our client is an access control specialist, and they were asked if they could adapt their door mounted product to provide an integrated emergency muster station solution, for both internal and external applications.

They asked Tharsus to deliver a full solution including concept design, prototype and manufacture.

Some of the requirements included:

• Visibility of signage
• Ease of maintenance
• Emergency lighting
• IP66 sealing
• Sea air and vandal resistant
• Modular design for external pole mounting and internal wall mounting

Tharsus Solution

Once the brief was fully developed with the customer we produced a number of concept designs, followed by a mock up of the chosen design to evaluate lighting and functionality.

The final modular solution has a common electronics enclosure and signage format that can be mounted on different back bones to suit different locations.

Result

We have now supplied a number of units which are undergoing extensive trials at various nuclear power sites.
